With the advances in electronic technology, pixelate are used in everywhere of our daily life, so it has become a cool style and creative way to design.
Here is a great example of using pixelated style to design advertising and create art sculpture. It Ralph inspired 8 BIT LANE - The worlds first pixelated street, ran from 11-13 Jan 2013, at Truman Brewery on London's Brick Lane.
